Clapham is a suburban district in the south-west London. Although larger part of the area is within the SW4, it also includes parts of SW8, SW9 and SW12. Clapham is situated in the London Borough of Wandsworth, but is managed by Lambeth. The district is constituted of three Lambeth wards- Clapham Town, Clapham Common and Thornton ward. Some areas of Clapham North fall within Brixton and Stockwell electoral wards.

Clapham Common is the main green space in the area with an old bandstand and three ponds. Holy Trinity related to the 19th century evangelical Clapham Sect is located in the common. Nearby Clapham Common is Clapham Town that comprises of Clapham High Street and Clapham Manor Street which is home to Clapham Leisure Centre. South of central Clapham is Clapham Park.

Venn Street Market and Clapham Picturehouse, an arthouse cinema, are both based on Venn Street. Some of the most notable residents of the area include actress Vanessa Redgrave, diarist Samuel Pepys and abolitionist William Wilberforce.

The district is served by two railway stations on London Overground’s East London Line – Clapham High Street and Wandsworth railway station and three tube stations- Clapham South, Clapham Common and Clapham North.
